Southwark LGBTQ+ Network event

At this internal event, I gave a 15 minute presentation about London’s bisexual history and the importance of unity within the queer community, as part of a celebration of the relaunch of the Council’s LGBTQ+ Network.

“We had so much great feedback from colleagues since the event – from network members about what the event means to them personally, and also sparking more great conversations about what else we can do as a council,” Caroline George, External Opportunities Manager

Ending myths about Endometriosis, period. – an internal talk with the General Optical Council

“Lois Shearing delivered a well-researched and passionate talk about endometriosis at the General Optical Council. By sharing their own lived experience of how endometriosis has impacted them and highlighting common myths and misconceptions, Lois created a safe space to have an open conversation about endometriosis. Lois used the latest research in an engaging presentation, with practical suggestions on what organisations can do to support their employees who may be affected by endometriosis. This detailed and knowledgeable exploration allowed for an interactive and educational discussion. Lois’ personable approach as well as their generosity with time, was very much appreciated. Lois’ talk was well received, and we are grateful for the opportunity to better understand something which may have a significant impact on the lives of our colleagues,” Sam Adam, Administrative Assistant.
